System Overview

Available for sale is a complete Sonardyne wideband acoustic emergency BOP control system , designed to provide an independent acoustic communication link for subsea blowout preventer activation.

These systems are commonly installed as a secondary emergency control path in deepwater drilling environments where hydraulic or multiplex control systems may be unavailable.

The equipment originates from a cancelled project and has reportedly never been deployed subsea . Several units remain in transport/storage configuration with batteries disconnected.

A rack-mounted controller has been powered on and verified to boot normally.

Main System Components

The package includes the following primary equipment:

1 × Portable Acoustic Valve Control Unit

1 × Dunking Transceiver

1 × Test Transducer with Holder

1 × Dunker Cable Assembly (70 m) on Reel

1 × Charger Unit

2 × Deep Acoustic Remote Transducers (DART)

1 × Subsea Electronics Module (SEM)

Subsea Cabling & Interfaces

4 × DART–SEM cable assemblies (7.5 m)

2 × SEM–BOP cable assemblies (5 m)

These cables provide the subsea interface between the acoustic command system and the BOP control interface.

Topside Control Equipment

3 × Rack-mounted Acoustic Valve Controllers

These controllers provide the operator interface and acoustic command generation for the subsea system.

Spares Package

The system also includes a significant spare parts package:

1 × SEM PCB electronics kit

1 × DART PCB electronics kit

2 × SEM endcaps with connectors

1 × BOP subsea tool kit

The inclusion of spare electronics and subsea connectors is valuable for operators intending to recommission or maintain the system.
