Based on the proven ‘flying sheave’ style of deck mounted low tonnage Active Heave Compensation (AHC) systems, the Nereus AHC system frmo Screaton offers the same compact package redeveloped for use on marine cranes, deck winches, LARS or other lifting devices.
Consisting of a dual sheave block unit, a power unit, motion reference unit (MRU) and control system, the Nereus AHC system is a simple and robust arrangement designed specifically for low tonnage, space restricted applications.
Through the use of a multi-fall arrangement, small movements in the heave compensated mechanism can lead to large movements in the load by as much as a 6:1 ratio.
Cutting edge instrumentation and control used in the Nereus system ensures a 0.4 inch/10mm load positioning accuracy while allowing up to 16.4ft / 5m of travel or +/- 8.2ft / +/- 2.5m.
The system can be supplied as hydraulically power or electrically powered.
