For your inspection you should consider seven areas: structural integrity of boom, pedestal and slewing ring; hydraulic cylinders, pumps and hoses; wire ropes and sheaves per ISO 4309; slewing gearboxes and bearings; electrical systems including limit switches and overload protection; Active Heave Compensation system (if fitted); and documentation—maintenance logs, load test certificates (typically every four years), classification certificates and OEM manuals.
