ANCHOR PONTOON AND TENSION BARGES Modular heavy-duty units for mooring and tensioning operations. Six anchor pontoon barges (12m x 12m x 2m, 50T net weight, 210T net buoyancy each) and six tension barges (14.5m x 20m x 3m, 150T net weight, 770T net buoyancy each) are listed as sets. SPLIT BARGES For dredge spoil disposal and bulk material transport. LR-classed split barges (51m x 10m, 1,100T capacity at 600 m³, built 2023–2024) currently available.
SPECIALIST BARGES Purpose-built units for specific marine operations. A diving barge (25m x 15m, 3.5m depth) with 3.5m x 3.5m moonpool, 20m x 13m hangar and 500 HP Volvo Penta generator. Deck load ratings range from 9 t/m² to 25 t/m², with DWT capacities up to 2,000 tonnes on the new 59m x 16.5m heavy load pontoon. The split barges hold 1,100 tonnes at 600 m³ capacity. Most units were built between 2014 and 2026.
Key inspection areas: hull plate thickness and condition (bottom, side shell, deck plating), particularly corrosion in the splash zone; ballast tank integrity and coating condition; structural framing and girders; deck load rating documentation and class-imposed restrictions; mooring equipment including bollards, bitts and fairleads; watertight integrity of compartments; and current classification status with survey dates and outstanding conditions of class. For split barges, inspect hinge mechanisms and hydraulics. For specialist units (moonpools, buoyancy control), check OEM system documentation. RemoraDocks offers a managed buying service can arrange independent marine surveys.
Most barges are delivered by wet tow using harbour or ocean-going tugs, depending on the route and classification. Smaller flat top units (24m x 9m) may ship as heavy-lift cargo on a deck carrier. Modular pontoon barges (12m x 12m) can potentially be trucked in sections. Tow costs depend on distance, weather windows, tug availability and insurance. Most listings are sold 'as is, where is'—our managed services team can coordinate tow quotations and marine warranty survey requirements.

New-build barges require 6–18 months lead time depending on size and yard availability, with costs driven by steel prices and shipyard backlogs. Used barges offer immediate availability at lower capital outlay—our inventory includes recent 2023–2024 builds in new or near-new condition, such as BV-classed heavy load pontoons and LR-classed split barges. For project-based needs—construction campaigns, temporary berths, cable lay conversions—a used barge delivers the capability without long-term commitment. Well-maintained steel barges have service lives exceeding 30 years, making recent units a sound investment while keeping functional assets in the maritime circular economy.
